About Ron Moore

Linda (my wife of 42 years) and I moved to Florence 17 years ago after serving as missionaries in Ivory Coast, West Africa.  My primary duties there included the organization and administration of a leadership training program that would reach some 19 African villages.  Both the training program and the literature that I wrote for it are still in use today.  Because of an eye disease that was adversly affected by the harsh climate conditions there, Linda and I returned from the field in 1995 to make Florence our home.

Before I retired in June of last year (2011), I was a licensed residential builder for 10 years and a licensed real estate broker with RE/MAX Professionals for six.  While at RE/MAX, I was an approved instructor with Buffini & Company, a real estate coaching and training firm, and a licensed instructor and curriculum developer with the South Carolina Real Estate Commission.

In 2009 the City Council (CC) appointed me to serve on the City Planning Commission (CPC), of which I now serve as vice-chairman.  Since joining the CPC, Florence has developed a 10-year Comprehensive Plan and updated its Downtown Development Master Plan.  Currently, I am deeply envolved with city officials and other citizens in a rewrite of Florence's Unified Development Ordinance (UDO).  All of these endeavors flow through the CPC to the CC for their consideration.  Knowing that all of these changes would have a significant and determinative impact upon the future of Florence and the quality of life for its citizens, I began to attend as many City Council regular sessions and special workshops as possible.

As a culmination of these and other life experiences, I believe that I am not only qualified but well informed to serve the citizens of Florence as a member of Council.  For a more detailed explanation of WHY I am running, please CLICK HERE.
